J.Lo's bootleg boost

(Friday June 25, 2004 11:16 AM)

An unreleased Jennifer Lopez track has become a radio hit in the US.

"(Out) On The Floor" is being touted as the first release from Lopez' new album but sources at Epic Records claim it's an outtake from her first record.

Built around a sample from Lisa Lisa and Cult Jam's 1984 hit "I Wonder If I Take You Home", the song is a dance track with lyrics that recall Madonna's "Into The Groove".

"I step into another world/As soon as I start to dance/Out on the floor/It's always been the only place/When I look to escape/Baby, you can do the same/Let your troubles go."

A handful of R'n'B stations across the US were 'leaked' the single last week and told they have it ahead of the record company.

An Epic representative said: ""It's not a new song, it's not going on the new album, it's nothing… It's a rough mix. It's not even mastered."

"(Out) On The Floor" is believed to have been recorded during the sessions for Lopez' 1999 debut album "On The 6".

Lopez does not currently have a new album scheduled for release.
