Nancy Sinatra album details
(Thursday July 29, 2004 08:28 AM)
Nancy Sinatra has announced the release of her new album will be on September 28th.
Titled "To Nancy, With Love", it will feature collaborations with U2's Bono and The Edge, Jarvis Cocker, Pete Yorn and Jon Spencer. Sonic Youth's Thurston Moore, "Little" Steve Van Zandt and Calexico have all provided songs.
A single, the Morrissey-penned "Let Me Kiss You", will be released on September 14th. Morrissey also appears on backing vocals on the track.
The album will be issued on Sanctuary's Attack imprint, which was resurrected earlier in the year for the former Smiths frontman's "You Are The Quarry".
Reported on Billboard.com, Thurston Moore's song "Momma's Boy" is described by Sinatra as "kind of spooky and dark" while she calls Van Zandt's "Baby Please Don't Go" as "a rocker, and I think it's one of his best ever".
Sinatra previewed a number of the tracks at her recent concert at London's Royal Festival Hall including "Let Me Kiss You", "Two Shots Of Happy, One Shot Of Sad" (the Bono/Edge song) and "About A Fire".
Speaking of that Meltdown appearance, her drummer, Bruce Thomas, formerly of Elvis Costello's Attractions said: "It was absolutely great. All she ever did in England was a TV show 38 years ago, but all sorts of celebrities came out to see her and gave her a five-minute standing ovation when she walked out. She was in tears."
