Madonna denies Britney

Madonna is reported to have refused to be the godmother of Britney Spears' baby.

The Sun reports today [May 5] that the newlywed asked her mentor and friend to be the godmother to her first child, due later this year.

Madonna is reported to have refused on the grounds that she is too busy to undertake the responsibility.

A source told the tabloid: "Britney was so disappointed but told Madonna she understands."

Spears and husband Kevin Federline are yet to reveal when their baby is due but the singer is believed to be more than three months pregnant.

As previously reported, a pregnancy test which is claimed to be the one Spears' used to confirm her pregnancy was recently auctioned online to raise money for charity.
