Monkeys snub Bowie
(Friday January 27, 2006 05:43 AM)
The Arctic Monkeys snubbed David Bowie at one of their shows in America recently, without realising who he was.
The Sheffield sensation apparently asked Bowie to move seats at a gig in New York City, because he was sitting in one reserved for a member of their family.
Apparently no-one recognised the rock'n'roll legend, until one of the band's fathers pointed out who he was after the concert at the Bowery Ballroom.
The dad of bass player Andy Nicholson is understood to have pointed out Bowie, as Nicholson confirmed to The Sun: "David came up afterwards and said he really enjoyed it. So that's nice."
A 'source' close to the band commented: "The lads were really embarrassed. They didn't think anyone would turn up to see them in New York, never mind a legend like David Bowie."
"David had heard all the hype and wanted to see them for himself."
