Q Awards: The Winners
(Monday October 30, 2006 07:42 AM)
The 2006 Q Awards have just finished, with Arctic Monkeys, U2 and Oasis taking home the big prizes.
The Gallagher brothers took the award for Best Act In The World Today, although Liam failed to attend the event at the Grosvenor House hotel.
Noel Gallagher was also given the Classic Songwriter Award, while "Whatever People Say I Am, That's What I'm Not", by the Arctic Monkeys, was named Best Album.
U2 won the special award for Band Of Bands at the end of the event, with Bono, The Edge, Larry Mullen and Adam Clayton climbing up to the stage to receive their gong.
Speaking to the gathered stars, the U2 frontman paid tribute to The Who and Q magazine, commenting: "You're a lot cooler than when you started and so are we."
Meanwhile, Arctic Monkeys courted controversy by calling Take That "b*llocks", while Noel Gallagher apologised for the non-appearance of his brother, who he said was at the zoo.
