"Born In The USA" by Bruce Springsteen has been voted the greatest album in rock history.

The new BBC poll for a forthcoming music documentary voted the landmark 1984 top of the pile, ahead of Dire Straits and Nirvana.

"Born In The USA" has now sold over 15 million copies across the world, and beat off competition from The Beatles, U2 and The Rolling Stones in the survey.

The full Top Ten is as follows:

01 Bruce Springsteen - "Born In The USA"
02 Dire Straits- "Brothers In Arms"
03 Nirvana - "Nevermind"
04 The Clash - "London's Calling"
05 David Bowies- "The Rise And Fall Of Ziggy Stardust…"
06 The Beatles - "White Album"
07 Black Sabbath - "Paranoid"
08 U2 - "Achtung Baby"
09 The Stone Roses - "The Stone Roses"
10 Led Zeppelin - "Led Zeppelin IV"

Meanwhile, Springsteen made a guest appearance on-stage with Brian Wilson at his show at the Count Basie Theatre in Red Band, New Jersey, on Saturday evening.

The Boss joined the Beach Boys legend during the concert, playing the guitar solo on "Barbara Ann" and backing vocals on closing track "Love And Mercy".
