Glasto tickets on eBay
(Friday June 15, 2007 03:36 AM)
Tickets for the Glastonbury Festival have been posted on eBay, flaunting efforts by organisers to avoid touting.
Michael Eavis and co introduced a radical new registration scheme this year, requiring people to submit photographs in order to buy tickets.
The plan was intended to avoid them being sold at enormously inflated prices, which now looks set to happen.
Currently reaching top prices of £350, Eavis has insisted that he and eBay will do all they can to block the black market sale of tickets.
"I'm moving heaven and earth to stop this happening. I have people watching eBay so we will have their information", said Eavis.
Meanwhile, eBay have released a statement commenting: "Concert and festival tickets are generally allowed to be sold on eBay.
"However, we make it clear on our site to both buyers and sellers that some events tickets may have terms printed on them which may limit the ability of the original buyer to sell them to other people.
"Anyone buying or selling Glastonbury tickets should be aware that tickets now feature a photograph of the original buyer. This may mean that anyone other than the original buyer is refused entry to the event."
Glastonbury 2007, which will be headlined by Arctic Monkeys, The Killers and The Who, takes place on June 22+23+24.
