Eminem on Mandela bill?

(Friday April 11, 2008 03:16 AM)

Eminem will play Nelson Mandela's birthday party in London this summer, according to reports.

The hip hop superstar, who has remained out of the pop public eye in recent years, is set for a high-profile comeback.

He joins a line-up that already includes Razorlight, Stevie Wonder, Annie Lennox and Keane, to mark the South African president's 90th year.

The gig is being organised by Queen guitarist Brian May, who looks to have pulled off quite a coup by getting the controversial rapper out of semi-retirement.

An 'insider' told a UK tabloid: "We're amazed to have Eminem on board. We wanted some of the greatest artists from recent times and Eminem was on the list.

"Brian contacted Eminem's management on the off-chance and never expected him to go for it. It's going to be explosive stuff and it's certainly a big stage to make his comeback."

The gig takes place on June 27 in Hyde Park.
