Jacko glove auctioned

(Friday August 14, 2009 03:06 AM)

One of Michael Jackson's most iconic gloves is to be auctioned later this year, it has been announced.

The accessory is the only left-handed one worn by the pop superstar during his career and featured at Motown's landmark 25th anniversary special in 1983.

It has been donated by Walter 'Clyde' Orange, a founding member of The Commodores, and is set to go under the hammer in November.

"There's a hundred other gloves out there, but this is the one you want. He blew up after that (performance) with 'Billie Jean'," said Orange.

"The world should see this. This is the first. That's the song that made him shoot through the roof as a superstar", he explained.

The auction, which takes place on November 21 at Hard Rock Cafe in Times Square, New York, also features memorabilia from Madonna and Jimi Hendrix.

All the proceeds are set to benefit MusiCares, which is dedicated to assisting musicians battling substance addiction.
