Lil Wayne sued

(Monday November 02, 2009 10:56 AM)

Lil Wayne is being sued for copyright infringement amid claims he used vocals on a hit song without permission.

Thomas Marasciullo alleges the rapper approached him in 2006, with a view to securing some "Italian-styled spoken word recordings".

However, he only realised they had actually been used when his daughter heard them on the track "Respect" while buying a ringtone.

It was taken from "Like Father, Like Son", Wayne's album with Birdman, which has since been certified gold.

Marasciullo is also suing the star's record label, Cash Money, and various music distribution outlets, in a bid to secure unspecified damages.

As previously reported, Lil Wayne is due to be sentenced for gun possession in February, after admitting the charge last week.
