Fuller wants Spice

(Monday November 02, 2009 11:17 AM)

Simon Fuller has called on the Spice Girls to reform for the 2012 Olympics in London.

The pop mogul, who launched the girl band to international success in the '90s, has joined the clamour for their comeback.

They are amongst the big acts being touted as possible headliners for the opening ceremony, which is little more than 1,000 days away.

Speaking about the idea, Fuller said: "They stand for so much in British music history and I can't think of a better time for them to get back together for another performance.

"The demand for them as a band is as strong as ever", he commented, concluding: "I think if they do it, it's going to be in 2012."

The opening ceremony of the London Olympics is expected to be watched by around two billion people.

The Spice Girls latest reunion tour concluded in February 2008, after they had raked in a reported £40 million.
