Michael Jackson film “This Is It” sits atop the US and UK box office charts after its first week in cinemas.
The film grossed $21m in the five days since its premiere last Wednesday (Oct 28), taking the number one spot from horror flick “Paranormal Activity”.
In the UK it has earned £4.9m in the same period of time.
“This Is It” has been such a huge success – thus far taking $101m in cinemas worldwide – that Sony Pictures have decided to prolong its original two week run to a whole month.
The film will now be in cinemas until November 29th.
It chronicles Jackson’s preparations for a world tour that would have taken place this summer, were it not for the singer’s death in June.
