Amy Winehouse Cancels All Gigs Due To Exhaustion

(Tuesday November 27, 2007 06:47 PM)

Troubled singer Amy Winehouse is cancelling the rest of her concerts and all public appearances this year on the advice of her doctor. It comes after her performances became increasingly erratic, leading to more fears about the Rehab star's health.

Explaining the decision to cancel her tour, Winehouse said she cannot perform "without my (husband) Blake".

Blake Fielder-Civil is in custody charged with attempting to pervert justice.

Winehouse said: "I can't give it my all on stage without my Blake. I'm so sorry but I don't want to do the shows half-heartedly; I love singing.

"My husband is everything to me and without him it's just not the same."

The Brit-award winning singer, 24, was booed on the opening night of her tour earlier this month after a chaotic performance in Birmingham.

She dropped her microphone and walked off during her closing number of Valerie.

But she told the crowd: "To them people booing, wait 'til my husband gets out of incarceration. And I mean that."

Last night, after her gig in Brighton she is said to have dashed from hotel to hotel in the rain, hiding her nose and pulling at her teeth, before jumping in a taxi back to London.

Winehouse had been due to perform in Bournemouth tonight and was also set to play in Cardiff, Dublin, Belfast, Manchester and London later this year.

A statement from the singer's record company, Island Records, said she had cancelled her performances on the instruction of her doctor and had been told to deal with "health issues".

The firm said: "The rigours involved in touring and the intense emotional strain that Amy has been under in recent weeks have taken their toll.

"In the interests of her health and well-being, Amy has been ordered to take complete rest and deal with her health issues."
